“The wastebasket is a writer’s best friend.” On the flip side, don’t become a perfectionist when you write. It can prevent your projects from coming to fruition on time.  Perfectionism is the enemy of excellence.

The infographic below gives seven useful pointers to help you overcome the plague of perfectionism.

It will help you see that aiming for perfection in your writing rather than what you should be aiming for – excellence, may actually be the thing that is stifling your creativity. When it comes to writing think in terms of Motown hits rather than Mahler symphonies.

The infographic begins by encouraging you to, “become a writing pragmatist.” In other words, just start writing and worry about refining things later, a great asset in your writing is momentum which can be lost if you want every sentence to be perfect from the get-go.

So, if you tend to be a perfectionist when writing, and you find this slows you down, check out the following infographic and get your writing up to speed.
